By Frenzy I Ruin
by Cora Reilly
DID NOT FINISH
While the bar is never that high for Cora's book (no shade I promise) this one managed to be exceptionally terrible. Most of her books are misogynistic enough already (and for the most part it's understandable because it is the mafia) but she truly managed to turn it all the way up here and for what ???
This kid behavior makes no sense to me... he grew up surrounded by happy/loving couples, in an environment where he was loved by his family and he somehow managed to turn out like this ?? It's one thing for him to be ruthless like is father when he needs to be, but him being a psycho emo human trash just for fun is nonsensical. for him to grow up within this family and somehow not share any of their values is so odd to me,like why would Nevio out of all people abandon his kid ???
Anyways... Aurora was an embarrassing doormat, which I excepted because of the unrequited love trope. This trope only works for me if the MMC is the one who likes the girl, when the roles are reverse it's simply always pathetic... there's no reason for you to be head over heels for a boy who hasn't shown interest in you, get up.
The part where she sexually assaults him and people blame him for it is really what made me stop reading, I simply had enough. Especially since it was framed as if she was the victim in this situation, umm no.
This is truly her worst book so far, which is quite the accomplishment considering...
