Les Frères Karamazov II by Fyodor Dostoevsky
5.0
The second volume is not what I was expecting for the end of the Brothers Karamazov, but I was not disappointed by the work itself. The trial portion in particular reminded me of the author’s argument in his “Notes from Underground” about the erratic nature of human individuality. The emphasis put on the importance of a happy healthy childhood was also unexpected, but a welcome element that lightened the mood from the darker ends of other plots of the story.
