The Year of Less: How I Stopped Shopping, Gave Away My Belongings, and Discovered Life is Worth More Than Anything You Can Buy in a Store by Cait Flanders

inspiring medium-paced

2.0

Very simplistic and cliché.  Don't expect to get any actionable self help advice from this book.  While she went into a lot of details about how she felt following the revelation of her parents divorce, her details about the shopping ban and purging of her belongings was surprisingly minimal.   It was definitely more of a memoir.  If you are also in your late 20s and just looking for some inspiration,  you may like this.

If you really want advice about decluttering, read The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo.  For advice on dealing with finances, Financial Peace by Dave Ramsey is a classic treasure trove of ideas and advice.  If you're looking for an author who is less "old white dude," I Survived Capitalism and All I Got Was This Lousy T-Shirt by Madeline Pendleton is excellent.
