Surprisingly stunning. Slow, chronological, an unfolding of Themis’s lifetime through the telling of a grandmother’s tale. Of love, loving, and family in war, politics, peace, tragedy, and everyday life. The warmth of Greek domestic life and descriptions of family meals contrasted with wartime brutality and deaths. A long read, but undeniably a beautiful read.
