In one word - INTROSPECTIVE
This story has me gripped since the first minute of the audiobook itself! There are very few stories that makes you look at the reality of the world we are in, this is one of them. Due to that strong connection to the real world, you’re able to put the characters in the story in your frame and visualize how the story is turning out. A fast paced story, The Last Thing He Told Me takes you a journey that any reader can relate to. I was able to draw comparisons and empathize how the character was feeling at a given point in the story.

The story is as follows: We all have our secrets. Owen Michaels does too. One fine day, he disappears but leaves a message for his wife, Hannah Hall, “Protect Her”. Hannah knows who the message means, his daughter, Bailey who means the world to Owen. Hannah and Bailey take on their journey to find Owen and find his secrets leading to his true identity. I don’t want to go further in the story or my thoughts here as that can be considered as a spoiler and this book is worth reading at least once.

The Last Thing He Told Me won the Goodreads award in 2021 for The Best Mystery and Thriller which I now see is totally accurate. Along with great applause to Laura Dave, a huge shoutout to Rebecca Lowman who was wonderfully read this book. I’m not usually the person who chose to listen to audiobooks from thriller genre, I prefer physical format for this genre. But this one changed my mind. I loved the buildup of the story and the way each character evolved throughout this journey. In all, this was an amazing read and I definitely will recommend it to all my mystery/thriller readers here!
