informative slow-paced

This book was undoubtedly well-researched, but reads like a textbook. While I found much of the history and information interesting, the style and manner of writing didn’t hold my interest and made for  a long and boring read. I read a lot of nonfiction, but find books far more appealing when they give more personality and perspective to their main characters. I also felt like this book often lacked context for what was going on in Europe during the war. To be honest, I’m a bit surprised by how well-liked this book seems to be.
