The most predictable, American story.

It was pleasant to read a recency romance with a different plot but this leaves nothing at all to the imagination. I don't mean in terms of the steamy scenes but every thought behind every glance, no matter how obvious, is described in the text. It makes for a boring read.
Then there's the usual difficulty in reading such American language talking about regency England, I can let some of it go, but then the idea that in the slums of London would be a pavement (sidewalk) outside the building is highly unlikely, the slums didn't have sanitation and often flooded into the buildings.
The locations and their descriptions don't make sense to me either. I think there is a lack of research into the settings in the era. As a Brit who is familiar with Westminster, the surrounding areas and how they've changed over time it is just impossible to get on with this book.
