a tough one to review cause the quality of this book varies from story to story. There are some that really stuck with me like The Dead, Clay, and Grace as well as some others whose names I can't recall but their characters and themes I do. The later half of the book from Ivy Day in the Committee Room onwards benefits from a cursory understanding of Irish nationalism and unionism. I thought it was a cool idea to have characters from previous stories mentioned in others in passing as it made it feel like we were taking a look at a community at large.

not exactly riveting reading but a worthwhile encapsulation of an early 1900s Ireland coming to terms with the past and reckoning with what the future would hold for it and it's people.
