All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriot

This is such a fabulous book. Harriot brings you right there into the barn with the icy wind of the wild moor on your bare skin as you save an animal's life during a difficult birth. I laughed and cried too many times to count. This one I've read before and bought for my oldest son (almost 12) but I had to borrow it from him when I heard him laughing from his bunk at night. Note to parents, there are a few swear words and the people drink a fair bit of alcohol, so while my kiddos loved the animal stories it did require a talk about responsible alcohol consumption and appropriate language. Still, marvelous book. I highly recommend.
