Sérotonine by Michel Houellebecq

As a French person I’m really confused about if I should love this book or dislike it.

I really like the writing is style, it’s so fluid and definitely feels natural. The author manages to find the right balance between description and interpretation to let the reader make his own idea of the places the character are into.

But on the bad parts, what the hell is this approach to sexuality ? Maybe it’s voluntary from the author but I’ve rarely seen a book where the images of the women and the men are so tightly couple to their sexuality and, to their bestiality. It feels like hormones are even more important than Serotonin. It’s really hard to not feel weird when you read the main character approach to women as just a sexual tool on steroid.

I haven’t decided yet if the good parts overweight the bad ones. Still I would recommend this book for the writing style and the elegance of the narration.
