About That Kiss by Jill Shalvis
4.0
Another solid read by Jill Shalvis! I knew you could not go wrong with this author. I was in need of a sweet, entertaining and some sexy time love story after reading a few heavier and some so-so books and this one really delivered.
I loved Kylie so much, she is a woodworker (which I think is so awesome!), she is a hardworking, caring and sassy heroine who is a bit leery of romance, due to her mother's many failed relationships, and harboring some guilt over her grandfather's death. Her beloved keepsake, which was her last memory of her grandfather is taken so she needs help getting it back. In comes Joe.
I love Joe, he is ex-military who now works in the security business. He is one of those heroes I love, the protective badass alpha but with charm. He is also one who is harboring some guilt and a painful childhood and did not think he had the ability to give 100% to Kylie so he fought his attraction. When Kylie came to him, albeit reluctantly for help, he could not stay away from her for long.
Another character I loved so much was Vinnie, Kylie's little pup. His scenes were so adorable and hilarious! I could just see his little paw up poking in doorways to make sure there isn't any glass there, so cute! And the scenes with Joe and Vinnie melted my heart! I always say you can trust a man who is good to your pups!
The story itself was cute and fun with low angst, which is nice sometimes. There were some emotional baggage both carried and needed to be worked out, but it didn't seem too drawn out. There was so much chemistry between Kylie and Joe and the back and forth banter was really fun to read.
Another winner, now I can't wait to read about Molly and Lucas!
