Girl, Stolen by April Henry
3.0

Great as a short mystery book, but not much more.

I was definitely glad that Cheyenne didn’t act as a damsel-in-distress. She was smart and resilient, and really carried the book in my opinion. Griffin was also an interesting character, but I wish we could have had more insight into his personality and emotions, as we on,y really got facts, instead of feelings from him. He also made the book, as he softened the line between the “bad guys” and Cheyenne, making it more interesting for the reader, as our alignment isn’t so definite from the beginning, with the character of Griffin being the bridge.
I do wish we got to know Danielle and Cheyenne’s dad a bit more, as they came across quite distant, when really I think they were very close to Cheyenne, but the reader didn’t really get to experience this relation.

The twists were also written really well. I think the main thing that let the book down was that the writing seemed a little removed from the characters, and I think the inclusion of more emotions would increase my enjoyment of the book.

I think that Cheyenne’s blindness was written well and seemed authentic, but of course make sure you check out Own Voices reviews to hear their thoughts on this.

Overall, I would recommend this book as a short but easy mystery thriller pick me up. I’m sure this would be a great book to get you out of a slump!
