Burning Glass by Kathryn Purdie

I don't think it was bad as some of the reviews say, but it was definitely void of a solid plot and the main character, Sonya, pretty much only manages to solve problems by either blurting out information or "realizing" how to solve things. If the ending happened in the real world, or Russia as was so blindly implied every other page, everyone left standing would have been executed/murdered by the mob before they could even open their mouths to explain. That said... I actually enjoyed how heavy/confused Sonya's POV was? It was clear (in my opinion) that she is an unreliable narrator, and her wishy-washy nature really bought me on the impact an Auraseer's powers were supposed to have without training... for the first half or so of the book. The second half really lacked the resolve she was claimed to feel, and it didn't help that NONE of the secondary characters made any impact on the story. They were convenient excuses when needed and disappeared when not. I will not be reading the rest of the series. All things considered, this was still an okay way to spend an afternoon because I have definitely read much worse.
