Sociopath: a Memoir by Patric Gagne

challenging dark emotional hopeful informative reflective tense medium-paced

5.0

A very well written memoir by a woman diagnosed with sociopathic personal disorder who tried her whole life to be “good.” When she enters college and learns about this disorder for the first time, she instantly connects with it and decides to learn more. Eventually she decides to request an evaluation and soon begins to find how little research, understanding, and treatment options are available for personality disorders. It touches on the stigma and the misunderstanding - even citing a woman who said she’d rather have a child diagnosed with cancer than as a sociopath. So inspiring how she becomes a doctor and dedicates herself to researching and helping others
