The Adventures of Tom Sawyer
by Mark Twain
I enjoy reading this with students. In spite of intense vocab. and circuitous syntax, the story-telling touches everyone's funny bone. I would prefer an edited version in which the n-word was replaced by "black person" in every instance (with a footnote explaining the historical use of the word and what Twain aimed to convey about the characters who use it).
