Meridian by Alice Walker

5.0

Heartbreaking and stunning. I'm not seeing a lot of 5-star reviews, probably because of how it's written in by-no-means-loosely-but-definitely-obliquely related chapters. I think the strangeness of it adds to the haunting mood. This book is real and blunt and gorgeous. I can't read a lot of Walker all at once, but I think she's another whose oeuvre I will attempt to slowly devour and attend.
