Never has a book made me feel the things this book did. I'll have to come back and write up my full review when I've had time to fully pull together my thoughts but gods this book was everything I hoped it to be and more.
It seems I've been chasing this sense of nostalgia in a fantasy tale for what feels like a lifetime. It made me feel the way I did when I first read The Lord of the Rings - as though I had discovered something so wonderous and magical that I never wanted to leave this fictional world. Add in the female main characters I could only have dreamed of when I first started reading high fantasy?? My inner-child's reading heart is very very happy.
Favourite book of the year so far. Definitely in my top fantasy reads...maybe even one of my favourite books full stop.
