The thing about reading memoirs I find so enticing is that it’s usually a way to see how other have lived their life, when it comes to Mary Karr, I feel comforted by the familiarity in her stories. While I don’t have any stories of acid trips or possibly going to jail, her unspoken loneliness and need of undivided attention resonates. I look forward to reading the rest of Karr’s non-fiction, but since coming to know her I am headed to the book store to buy her poetry as I type this out.
