This book will forever have me thinking about it. it's beauty, its pain, its lessons, its connections, its tragedy and its power. The plot and characters feel alive in the way Mieko Kawakami writes. I smell the rain and see as scenes play out. It made the whole experience all the more painfully beautiful. Being able to relate to the topic of bullying and seeing how these two middle schoolers trudge through deep water and have each other as support in person and through letters shared with the other brought up a sense of hopefulness and a bittersweet feeling of what interpersonal relationships can mean as well as its impact. Yes, I teared up and with such an open ending you can't help but let your thoughts run with you.
