Wild Eyes by Elsie Silver
5.0

I would say I'm not really a fan of those small town guys that work on their own ranch and have no intention of leaving their hometown, but I'd be lying.  I don't usually find myself picking these books, but when I read them in a series, I find myself enjoying the story.

Weston is the epitome of the ranch life character in my mind.  He's rugged, holds nothing back with others, and isn't trying to find love but somehow it finds him.

Weston is diving one day and comes to a stop when he sees a woman trying to take a selfie with a freaking bear off the side of the road.  Knowing this is a terrible idea and she's going to get hurt or worse, he gets out of his vehicle to snap her back to reality and to her car safely.  He wasn't expecting the person trying to get the bear selfie to be the world famous singer Skylar Stone.

Skylar left everything behind to come to Rose Hill and work with music producer Ford Grant.  She doesn't want her team to know where she is so she's trying to lay low.  Trying to take a selfie with a bear wasn't the best idea, but she's grown up being told what to do and how to do it that she really didn't think it would be that bad.  Too bad the guy that rescued her from that whole situation is also the neighbor of Ford Grant and she can't stay away from him.

I felt so bad for Skylar.  She was a puppet all her life by those she trusted, including her own father.  She thought she could trust others to keep her best interest as top priority, not the money that comes with her fame.  Breaking away from those toxic people and working with Ford really opened her eyes and I was so happy Ford provided a safe place for her to just be human for the first time instead of a product.

Weston was the perfect guy to befriend Skylar.  While he's a huge fan (but doesn't tell her that), he's not swayed by her fame.  He treats her just like he does everyone else and helps her see her true value.  He's a great dad and co-parents with his ex like a champ.  By the end of the book, his protection over Skylar had my heart melting.  He was there for her, even when he said he couldn't leave home due to all his responsibilities.  He shows her that she matters to him, no matter what.
