My Heart Is a Chainsaw by Stephen Graham Jones
5.0
Damn, I really liked this one. It took me a minute to trust that the narrative wasn't going to go in a basic direction, but I hooked onto the protagonist as soon as she started uncontrollably talking about slasher movies to a group of strangers she was trying to blend in with. And the narrative didn't go in a basic direction. So, good for me. And good for you, if you read it.
Also, I'm seeing by the title on Goodreads that this is the first of a trilogy, which I'm now excited about, but I will say I liked how this ended with the plot points up in the air but the emotional note concrete. I think it's perfectly fine as a standalone.

Ok, did she not see Theo kill people, at least drag that one body off? I'm going to re-read, see if there is ambiguity in his actions when I thought there were none. Also, I'm seeing by the title on Goodreads that this is the first of a trilogy, which I'm now excited about, but I will say I liked how this ended with the plot points up in the air but the emotional note concrete.
