I have complicated feelings about this book. In the end, I liked it. But I would leave it for a few days and not feel any urge to pick it up again. I think it may have been an issue with the tension for me. In the past portion with Mari, I was worried about the women's safety. In the present portion with Haven, I was stressed about all the odds stacking up against her with Conrad. The author ended it nicely though and I felt it was a good, satisfying ending.

I'm still a little confused why Savina thought she had to sink boats and make the thermal vents go crazy to be a strega. Maybe it was briefly said and I missed it? But that's the only thing I feel was really odd about the book.
