Call Me By Your Name
by André Aciman
3.5 stars
Call me by your name is like a beautiful box which is empty inside. The prose is very flowery but I feel like it is used to dress up a story which isn't that deep. The relationship between the characters feels more based on lust than any real connection, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but the author tries to portray it as if the two are soulmates. During most of the book the only thing Elio thinks about is sex and there are some uncomfortable and questionable scenes with fruit.
I actually had a hard time finishing the story. I only had the last chapter left but I couldn't force myself to read it for almost half a year. Now having finished it I actually think that the book should have ended sooner,
