Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
3.0

★x3 | (C-) 71% | AGES 15+ | The first book in the Twilight Saga meets the usual expectations of its reputation but is hype-worthy for the romance genre lovers.

| Characters - ★x3 | Bella is a standard female protagonist: white and pale, thin, and insecure about herself when it comes to the romance section. And of course thinks herself “not pretty” and yet every boy in school is unrealistically in love with her. Edward is creepy stalker who likes the smell of her and brings it upon himself to be “very protective” her and it borderlines stalker-vibes and male toxicity. But Bella is alright with that, so read as long as you are also. Alice is a character I feel like doesn’t get enough pages. I would like to know her story more.

| Storyline - ★x3 | Wattpad legendary. Don’t expect your mind to enter the most beautiful landscapes and settings as they don’t ever leave school or a forest. It is meant to be a part of Bella’s life that is solely in high school. Feels anticlimactic as the main bad guy was only introduced in the last 100 pages. Expect lots of drama and not much sword fighting.

| Writing - ★x3 | I surprisingly enjoyed this writing. I heard a few things about the writing and I can understand why, but it’s perfectly wonderful.

Should you read this? This book was written a long time ago and should be taken mercifully. Times have changed and fictional teenagers have gotten smarter, girls have gotten stronger independently and boys are gentlemen who are free to be emotional. Be nice to this series and if you have a thing for this—GO FOR IT. I would never call this a guilty pleasure, because if it brings you pleasure and happiness, then it should be treated no differently!
This book is for protective boyfriends, vampire bites, love, and friendship lovers. Enjoy :)
