1.5 stars bc I get it. I just don’t like it. I get why Jake wrote the notebooks. But it just seems so unrealistic and silly to me. I THINK he wrote it bc he was lonely, and it was the only way he was able to analyze himself and his life from others’ POV. A way to analyze what his life could have been. A way to know if he was really as unbearable as he thought. 

But the “you read the whole story and learn it was all fake” trope was so weak to me. Everything seems forced. I didn’t resonate with it at all.
