Canto Contigo by Jonny Garza Villa
5.0
This is my first book by this author, but I have to say I was blown away with how amazing the writing is.
Villas writing of grief and the harsh journey it can take you on is so breathtaking and feels so real I couldn't help but cry reading this book.
And there was no sugarcoating of the reality that sometimes you have to learn things the hard way, you have to make mistakes and sometimes you are going to hurt the peaople that you love the most in order to heal, and it's not okay and it sucks but that is life and that is being human.
The romance was wonderful and only added to this story of grief, and I could feel the immense chemistry through the book.
I have read a lot of reviews about how difficult and unlikable Rafael character is and how he is a really hard protagonist to read about, and I think that is what I loved the most. Because he is written that way with so much purpose, and his reasons for why he is the way that he is is so clear and well written. But mostly because he felt organic, he had so many flaws and was so broken, and he could be unbearable, but it made sense, and it added to his complexity and reading his growth made this a remarkable read.
