Gods Behaving Badly by Marie Phillips
5.0
This now moves into the top tier of my favorite books. Clean prose, great dialogue, a terrific plot with twists and turns, especially as you near the end. This book offers such a cool take on answering the question of what ever happened to the Greek gods we've read about, seen in movies and watched on bad television shows. Translating their classical powers into modern day occupations (goddess of love doing phone sex, goddess of the hunt walking dogs, etc.) will bring a smile to any classics fan. But, Marie Phillips's excellent writing will appeal to anyone, regardless of the depth of knowledge of Zeus, Aphrodite, Apollo and Artemis.
I recently twittered that I was reading the 2nd book in my life that I thought I should have written. The first book was Company, by Max Barry. The second was this very book. My tweet noted that the third book would be written by me. But, until that comes out for you to read, please check out Gods Behaving Badly. You won't regret it.
