 I will openly admit that I made a mistake not looking into this book before jumping into it. The only thing I knew about this book going in was that it was banned/challenged a lot. I wish I knew (especially going into the audiobook) that I was getting into some really awkward slam poetry.... That’s on me.

Overall, this book isn’t terrible. I wouldn’t seek this out as a teenager and it felt really dated, but I can see why it gets peoples’ panties in a bunch.
