Where the Stars Still Shine by Trish Doller
5.0

I loved this book. I instantly connected with Callie and my heart broke more than once for her and the things that she has endured in her 17 years. I found her and the story very honest, Callie has lived a life on the run with her mentally ill mother, and when she is reunited with her father, she struggles to fit in. She struggles to be a daughter, a sister, a friend and even a girlfriend. Her life has been made up of looking out for her mother and herself, and not being accountable to anyone else. There were many times when I shook my head at Callie's choices but I realised that I just couldn't expect her to become part of a great family with great friends overnight. I loved how quickly Callie and Alex got it going on, I think they both thought it as just going to be a bit of fun and didn't realise what they were getting themselves into! they gave each other the time to remember the good things in the world. And while it wasn't a totally happy ending for me, it was a very satisfying one.
