The Hope We Hold: Finding Peace in the Promises of God by Jinger Vuolo, Jeremy Vuolo
3.0
This book is just so average. My biggest highlight was how short this book was and that Jinger and Jeremy narrated since I listened on audiobook. (FYI, it was less than 6 hours!)
I want to pick up Jinger Duggar's recent book when I have a chance, and I decided to read this one to get a little context about Jinger and Jeremy first. But, unfortunately, the title needs to be more accurate.
This book should be named something simple like "Our Relationship History" because that would be the most accurate title. The short introduction was a brief sermon. Then the rest of the book jumped back and forth, each chapter from Jinger to Jeremy to Jinger to Jeremy, retelling their brief relationship history, including how they met, their short five-month courtship, wedding planning, honeymoon, and how they ended up in California.
The end summary was "thank God for giving us hope," but the story felt false. Yes, their relationship is interesting, but why hide that under the facade of being something else? Why not write a memoir and be proud rather than make everything into a sermon? A lot more could be accomplished if this book was represented for what it was.
For me, it missed the mark. But I will still pick up Jinger's new book because I am curious.
