Would recommend if you enjoy fantasy with a side of romance (romance plot is important but not driving force). Overall, really enjoyed this book!

The characters follow their own motivation through the whole story (reminder this is the first book out of two, and this review is book specific). Everyone is individual, and show at a minimum show small differences in personality.

I like the simple, straightforward writing style, not high brow. I also appreciate that even with the period esk feeling, that there are quality of life changes. Such as, while women do seem to general follow the “traditional” lifestyle when they go against it there isn’t a great upheveal.

The plot and magic system all seem to follow a steady tradjectory and I expect no small pieces to be left behind. And plot points are introduced in a timely manner, but don’t rush the story faster than necessary.
