Confessions of a Shopaholic
by Sophie Kinsella
This book was a cringe fest.

Rebecca is one of my favourite characters I've read this year. I really feel like I'm in her head, logically making dumb mistakes alongside her. Not only that, but she's HILARIOUS, smart, and very flawed at the same time. This was a great, light read!
At the same time, this book did such a great job tracking Rebecca's personal growth that I felt very unsatisfied at the ending. How did the romance become the perfect place to leave readers? And such a huge section of it, too? And it was soooo fast. I felt a little dizzy, is all I'm saying.
All that to say, I recognize this is a light and fluffy book. I feel like it would have been better rounded, though, if it kept its emphasis on Rebecca's growth in responsibility and integrity rather than on reaching that successful life she always dreamed of.
