Michelle Moran has the ability to transport you into the worlds she creates and immerse you in the trials of the protagonist which i thoroughly enjoy. As a fan of Ancient Egypt, reading stories that feel as though you were there is very important. The characters have levels, not necessarily deep ones but you understand their motivations and this is something great in The Heretic Queen. You find yourself routing for the heroes and even sympathising with the 'villains' which adds a great dynamic to the read.
