Finally got to read this after years of it floating around my TBR! Shirley Jackson is a singular talent in my opinion, so I really enjoyed this even just for her style and sense. There were some slower parts, but all in all this story was genuinely creepy and had interesting, well-developed characters. And the ending gave me chills (literally, not figuratively). Definitely worth the read for anyone who likes a ghost story.
