Redhead by the Side of the Road by Anne Tyler

This wasn't bad, but it also wasn't very good.

Micah Mortimer is a middle-aged man with a loving family, a decent job, and an overall average life. But he's stuck in his routine: wake, run, work, drink, clean, play snake. When his stubbornness and low-risk lifestyle leaves him loveless, Micah begins to question his ways.

If it was any longer, I would have lost interest. Boring, surface-level characters, no interesting descriptions... I am confused as to why this was longlisted for the Booker Prize.
