The Forgotten Book by Mechthild Gläser

2.0

This was a bit of a disappointment all around.

I didn't realize until I started reading it that it's a Pride and Prejudice retelling, which made me excited. The fantasy/magic book and the retelling didn't seem to mesh well--it was almost like I was reading two separate stories. The retelling was also annoying to me because she used different names for the characters, but some of the names were different Jane Austen names. For example, the main character's name was Emma even though, as far as I could tell, she was supposed to be Elizabeth and not Jane Austen's Emma. Also, Jane's name was Charlotte, which was really confusing to me.

The book was fine and I did enjoy some aspects, but overall it was mediocre and dragged for me.
