Signa Farrow has known death her whole life. Signa is immune to death- but all that ends up happening is she speaks to Death when and if a death-like attempt takes place with only seems to anger her further. Death was great character. He would give her just enough to keep her wanting more and more answers. I loved learning how long he had been interested in Signa and his reasoning behind some of his decisions.
The constant battle she has with Death is so entertaining and their enemies-to-lovers trope is so direct and amazing to see unfold.
This book is gothic, mysterious, and just a little bit historical. While there are definitely some fantasy elements (Death, spirits, ghosts, etc) it didn’t scream fantasy. I’d heard such great things about this one and I was happy I finally read it. This book started off a little slow for me, but I ended up enjoying it for making not my normal cup of tea!
