The Strain by Guillermo del Toro, Chuck Hogan
4.0
I was pretty hesitant to read a vampire book after being completely traumatized with the True Blood, Twilight, Anita Blake crap out there. However, Pan's Labyrinth is one of my favorite movies... so I was willing to give Del Toro a chance with this book. I'm glad I did.
The storyline? nothing new... strange species threatening to take over the world... but what sets this book apart is the writing... the characters are brilliantly created. the best part? the vampires are not romanticized who can fall in love with humans. Seriously? please. They're evil and need to be killed. my kind of book. :-D
