Caged Warrior by Alan Sitomer

3.0

Unapologetically violent, Caged Warrior tells the story of McCutcheon Daniels, an underaged cage fighter with a heart of gold. Despite some clunky exposition and a tendency toward stereotypical tropes, this book manages to build some tension and maintain a sweet center in the relationship between M.D. and his sister Gem. I read this thinking some of my students would enjoy it, and I believe I was right. It was the most requested for our lit circles in English 2. We'll know whether they like it for sure in the next couple weeks!
