Really disappointed as I’ve read to other Harris books which I really enjoyed but not this one. Following the story of an engineer of the great aqueduct in the comings days before the eruption of Vesuvius. It took 300 pages for it to actually get interesting the plot was oh there’s no water how strange where is the water let’s go to another village and see if they have water no hmmm how strange. Really boring. The ending was the only redeeming feature when the volcano actually erupts
