The Undying by Anne Boyer

4.0

Like many people, I read When Breath Becomes Air a few years back and enjoyed its reflections on cancer and medicine, but reading this book, The Undying, felt like such a richer, more human, and more expansively aware discussion on cancer. Maybe I found it more relatable as a woman and with a sharper analysis on the feminist tragedies around cancer, even so, I feel as though anyone would be captivated and intrigued by this account. My personal favourite parts were the examinations on pain and exhaustion near the end of the book, but I appreciated the whole book in it’s entirety and never bored of Boyer’s thoughtful and critical prose.
