I went in with high hopes for this but I found the writing really disappointing - the “humorous” style didn’t land for me and wasn’t well executed. The book felt overly soapy and ridiculous, the characters were cliche, and the dialogue and interactions felt wooden. I did enjoy the last third more - particularly Sara’s revelation of the main characters assumptions, but overall I would have preferred the author wrote about her experiences (since she is obviously knowledgeable / an expert in the subject matter) in a less slapstick way. It was also overtly sexual in a way that felt forced, like an editor said “and there must be a hot romance” and boom Tom as a character was conceived. Would not recommend.
