Books of Blood: Volumes One to Three by Clive Barker

4.0

[4.5 stars] This rules; another review I saw cited this as the in-between, body-focused horror bookended by King’s emotionality and Ligotti’s cerebral fiction, can’t say it better myself. Very scary and consistent, there’s only about one mediocre story across the first three volumes. Favorites by volume:
1 - Pretty much all are near-perfect, probably The Midnight Meat Train but In The Hills, The Cities is among the most evocative short stories I’ve ever read
2- Jacqueline Ess: Her Will and Testament
3 - Rawhead Rex
