This is the best book I’ve ever read, I couldn’t put it down. As someone that used to live and work in Hawai’i, this is just perfect. It is a touching story weaving together strong women at different points in their lives along with the illegal colonization and development of an independent nation written in captivating prose.

For someone unfamiliar with the culture, history, and ʻŌlelo, I envision this as a tough read. It would take lots of googling. But if you are Hawaiian, live in Hawaii, or are deeply interested in Native Hawaiian issues, please read this.
