I think my issue with this book was that despite it being perfect for me I wasn’t it’s audience. It is a beautifully hopeful YA trans novel and I wish I could have read it in high school and known myself a lot sooner. I think I struggled with the historical bending and changes to the plot of Pride and prejudice that were necessary for the story and with the development of Oliver’s character. I did really like this rendition of Jane and I’m always going to be thankful for a happy trans ending, it just was not what I was looking for going into this book and so it didn’t quite hit for me.
Graphic: Deadnaming, Transphobia, and Dysphoria
Moderate: Homophobia, Sexism, and Outing
Minor: Suicidal thoughts, Stalking, and Classism
