Second Chance Summer by Jill Shalvis

4.0

Well, she's done it again. Who am I kidding? I already knew she would. Jill Shalvis delivers another great start to a new series center around the Kincaid family, their ups and downs trying to save the family's business and their love lives.

Aidan is a great character. Sure of himself, walks with confidence through life, and doesn't apologize for going after the things that matter to him. He's fierce when he has to and patience when it calls for. Steady in the middle of the storm his father left for him and his brothers when he ditched town. It also makes everyone around him rely on him and he can't seem to catch a breath. Always putting down fires, literally.

So when Lily comes back in town is no surprise he goes after her. She was the only thing in his life that ever made him feel truly happy and he's ready to make a go for it. I liked the way he pursued her. With a calm demeanor, taking his time and waiting for her to catch up with him.

Lily is a wonderful and strong willed leading lady. Back in town by force, not choice but at the same time ready to let go of her past and heal old wounds. She was incredibly funny and clumsy, is beyond me how she can be so sure of herself out in the mountains and fall from the stairs because of bunny scared her. LOL! Good times.

She truly needed time to heal before really taking a chance with Aidan and I appreciate that Jill Shalvis choose to make her be cautious about it. Especially because, let's face it, she had been in love with him for a very long time, even if they didn't see each other for years.

Jonathan, her best friend, was a amazing character. Sassy and clever, hopefully he will get his HEA along side the rest of the Kincaid clan. Char -matriarch of the family- was sweet and funny, full of mischief. Aidan's brothers are freaking hilarious, their interactions are the best part of the book. I had to try not to embarrass myself in public several times by not bend over laughing while reading this book.

That's one of the things I love the most about Jill Shalvis books: the humour. And along side the sexy, hot, sweet and funny, there's a lot of it in Cedar Ridge. Don't miss out on this new series!
