I enjoyed this story overall - Asako Yuzuki is a brilliant storyteller and the writing, especially the descriptions of the food are stunning. My main problem with this book is that it felt too long - there's a point 2/3 of the way through the story which feels like a climax followed by a resolution, yet it just keeps going? It sagged it bit for me after that though I will say I was gripped again by the end. Probably wouldn't read again but was and interesting experience nonetheless.
