Giving this one a very begrudgingly 2.5 stars, based on the fact that I really liked the first half with the very realistic PTSD-consequences of the last book, and Pip’s investigation bits into the new case and the weird stuff that happens to her. And then… the midpoint thing happened and the whole book went downhill. That second half does not even feel like the same character anymore. I kept reading hoping for some redemption or satisfactory ending but no. Why. Just why. And the very ending on the last page is also a big no for me. Much disappointment after really liking book 1 and 2.
Graphic: Violence, Kidnapping, Stalking, Murder
Moderate: Addiction, Confinement, Drug use, Blood, Vomit, Injury/Injury detail
Minor: Rape, Fire/Fire injury
