The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

If I cannot be better than them, I will become so much worse."

This was so much fun. It was just what I needed to get me back into the reading mood during the last few weeks of semester. I've hardly had any time to read, nor have I been in the mood to read while work for university has been piling up, but this served as the perfect little distraction from the workload I've ignored to read it.

I ended up really loving Jude, even if in the beginning she was giving very much 'not like other girls' vibes. She ended up being a total badass, and someone I wish I had the guts to be like. She's not someone who constantly underestimates herself and makes herself out to be a victim. She knows her worth, she knows how to get what she wants, and she does it with grace and poise. Jude is definitely the star of her own story, and for that I applaud Holly Black.

I did have some issues with worldbuilding, but maybe that's on me? I feel like a lot was told to us, but I just had trouble visualising how everything worked. I'm hoping I have a better time with this in the rest of the series (which I will be continuing immediately)!
