The Finish Line by Kate Stewart

5.0

Ngl as I reached first 60% it was a little baseline. Only kicked up after last 80%. Even then it was still a bittersweet ending. But that scene with Sean in the epilogue… pure gold.

My heart was yes healed in some ways, but it was more like glued together with the broken lines still visible. I cried like a baby at parts and whilst I wish there was more happier scenes where they didn’t have to worry about anything I know it wouldn’t be true to the story and true to what the characters have been through. I was painful to go through but I wouldn’t trade this book for anything. That twist was like WAT and honestly I was a little upset that they moments together in the beginning could’ve been happier since Cecelia was hiding a lot from him, but I get that making a difference comes with great sacrifice and if she had to sacrifice those moments to save their future and relieve some of Tobias’s burden then it’s worth it. Tbh I wish the epilogue was a smidge happier - especially that schizophrenia talk worried the crap out of me bc I was like “the hell Stewart is gonna throw this shit at the end after all they have been through”. It left that on a lose end HOWEVER… ima take it as an indication that Tobias will always come up with something to impact any hope of happiness. And in bringing this up he feels like he has to live with some sort of fear for reverence of his guilt. He will always be watching out for others and I’m just glad he can start to live with some semblance of peace, which doesn’t mean forgetting his past and his brother but rather finding a way to live and move forward with Dominic with him in his heart.

This series is a pure trésor.
